"THE GRANDFATHER" Plein Aire (Painted on location) Original Watercolor Painting on 100% rag paper. I was taken by this somewhat crooked tree that had withstood the mountain winds, when I suddenly realized it had actually been given live from this older dead tree (stump). Trees have an underground network of roots to support new life, and this stump was so close to the tree, I decided to give the beautiful mountain water scene over to The Grandfather.
